A groom’s father told a funny joke about his son, Scott, as he made a wedding toast. He said:
“My question for Scott was, ‘If I were to ask your best friend about you, what would he or she say?’ And without a moment’s hesitation, Scott said, ‘He would lick his face and wag his tail.”
The cute little quip brings up an interesting subject. Dog lovers REALLY love their pets. So much so that whether or not someone decides to marry someone is dependent on their attitude towards their dog(s).
A website called www.Rover.com conducted a survey of a thousand pet owners that produced some interesting results:
- 88% affirm that how someone treats their pet is a darn good indicator on how they will treat other people.
- 52% have ended relationships based on how their love interest treated their dog.
- 42% admit their relationship with their dog affects how they approach love and commitment.
Overwhelmingly (81%), these pet owners believe their pets love them without condition, and 46% say they do a better job of demonstrating love and affection then their human loved ones.
Let that sink in.
WeddingWire says 91% of couples that adopted a dog together include the pet in their wedding celebration in some capacity.
Thirty percent use the dog as a ring bearer with a special collar that holds the rings. In the video below, you can see the dog make his entry. Probably best to keep the pet leashed in case a squirrel is spotted making a mad dash for the peanut tray. And check with your venue and/or church to see if they even allow it.
Some couples use a custom dog cake topper to demonstrate their affection for Fido. Others concoct a signature cocktail for their Cockapoo.
Canine participation must always be weighed against the degree to which the pet is trained. You wouldn’t want to see Fido taking a bite out of a $500 wedding cake.
