Secular weddings are becoming more popular. According to the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), 22% of young adults are raised without religious influence in the home.
Although religious elements were included in 60% of wedding ceremonies of Americans older than sixty-five, the number drops to just 36 percent for younger persons.
And to compare decades, just 34% of couples in the 1970s had no religious affiliation compared to 78% today. That means secular music is more acceptable at wedding ceremonies than ever.
The Knot put together a list of top 10 wedding ceremony songs for those of you looking for a more secular affair.
They had “I’m Kissing You” by Des’ree at the top of the lists. It features soulful lyrics like these:
