We play great songs that may have come out last week … or even a century ago … and everything in between. Here’s the thing: a great love or dance song is a timeless work of art.
Take one of the all-time most popular wedding first dance songs ever: “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” The Knot says this song keeps topping the list of favorite first dance songs at a wedding. And yet Elvis Presley recorded it way back in 1961. More amazingly, a French composer wrote this melody way back in 1784!
It’s a great love song, and any great song begs to be reinterpreted. Take the young Canadian chanteuse, Alyssa Baker. Her bio describe her style as blending acoustic honesty with dreamy pop.
Her stripped down rendition of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” is quite moving, a simply lovely first dance song if ever there was one.

By contrast, Twenty-One Pilots offers up a funky ukulele driven presentation, complete with crowd participation. Totally fun!

Alyssa Baker does the same thing with the classic love song from the sixties, “I’ll Say A Little Prayer For You.” This Burt Bacharach/Hal Davis classic was a huge hit for two superstars from that era: Aretha Franklin and Dionne Warwick.
